Frequently asked questions
Getting started
I’m a TestFlight beta tester. How does this work?
TestFlight is Apple’s official beta program. After accepting your invitation, install Apple’s TestFlight app from the App Store, then tap the Pulse invitation link from your invite email. The app installs like any other, but builds expire every 90 days and you may receive new versions weekly. Crash reports are sent to us automatically. Your feedback during the beta directly shapes the launch — reply to your invite email or use the in-app feedback form.
Why does Pulse ask for access to my Contacts?
Pulse is built on top of your Contacts. It needs read access to import them into Pulse’s own local database, where it can layer on tags, notes, relationship intelligence, and AI signals. Pulse never uploads your contacts anywhere — they stay on your device. The only data that leaves your device is hashed, anonymized tokens used to match public news to people you know.
Does Pulse work without an internet connection?
Yes, mostly. Core CRM features (contacts, notes, tags, audit log) work entirely offline. Signal ingestion and cloud AI features need internet, but Apple Intelligence on-device features work offline.
Subscription and credits
How does the Founders Rate work?
It's $10/month or $100/year, locked in for life as long as your subscription stays active. Available to the first 10,000 subscribers. After the cap, standard pricing applies. If you cancel and resubscribe later, you get the standard price.
What’s the difference between daily quota and credits?
Your subscription includes a generous daily and weekly quota of AI usage — enough for normal use without ever hitting a limit. Quota resets automatically (24h after your first AI call of the day, 7 days for the weekly window). If you exhaust your quota, you can buy a $10 credit pack from Settings or the prompt that appears — credits never expire and roll over forever. Credits are used after your daily quota is gone, so you only spend them when you actually need to.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Open System Settings (macOS) or Settings (iOS), tap your Apple ID, then Subscriptions. Find Pulse and tap Cancel. Your subscription stays active until the end of the current billing period.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Your contacts, notes, and CRM data stay on your device exactly as they are. The AI features that depend on your subscription will stop working, but everything else continues to function. You can resubscribe at any time and pick up where you left off.
Privacy and data
What does Pulse send to its cloud servers? What’s a "hashed token"?
When Pulse needs to match a news article or signal to a person in your contacts, it doesn’t send your contact’s name. It sends a SHA-256 hash of the name + company — a 64-character string that can’t be reversed back into a name. The cloud sidecar processes the hash, returns matched signal data, and forgets the request. We never see your contact list, your notes, your interactions, or your relationships. The only thing the sidecar ever stores about you is your subscription status (so we know to let you in). See the privacy policy for the full data inventory.
Is my data backed up?
If you enable iCloud sync, your data syncs to your private CloudKit container, which Apple backs up as part of your iCloud account. You can also export everything as JSON from Settings → Privacy → Export all data.
Where do I find the privacy policy?
On this site at /privacy, or via the link in the footer of every page.
